About Us

My photo
I'm Cathy, a 67 year old retired Navy wife. Spent 24 years as a Navy wife until my husband retired after 27 years of service. We traveled all over from Washington D.C., to Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Maartin, Martinique, Japan and Korea. We re-located to this beautiful state of TN from Central FL. We live in the mountains on 5 acres with our 10 cats (5 indoor). I'm Chuck, the Other Half of the equation. I'm a 68 y/o sailor at heart. While in the Navy I was a Cryptologic Tech (Intel type). My most memorable tours of duty were in Submarines (Scorpion, Skipjack, Triton & Ray), as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Deputy Director National Security Agency (RADM C.F. Clark), and my last tour as Operations Chief at NSGA Homestead, Fl during Hurricane Andrew. It was a good time to retire. We have been looking for this home since 1965 and thank the good Lord that we're finally here.

Spring in the air

Well - it's warming up, slow but sure. Low temps are dropping only into the high 30's/low 40's at night but we're making it to the 70's during the daytime. Trees are starting to bud out and grass has really greened up. Sure hope we don't have another late freeze like last year that almost killed some of the trees here. Also hope that we don't have another drought like last year. I believe the winter rains have really helped the aquifer but we may not have caught up yet. Dale Hollow lake is still very low but with all the creeks and rivers that feed into it maybe it'll fill to normal levels yet.

More snow!

What crazy weather. Yesterday we had to drive to Cookeville left the house about 9:30am so we could beat the bad weather home. It was rainy and cold when we left and the weatherman said that we would get about 1-3 inches of snow starting in the evening. A friend called us when we were on the way to Cookeville and asked if we could pick up his big screen tv at the repair shop in Crossville. After finishing our business in Cookeville we headed to Crossville got the tv and headed to his house. Delivered the TV then went on our way home. All went well until we were heading up the mountains to our home. It was extremely foggy and Chuck almost ran off the road twice! Most of the road has no guardrails so the only way is down the mountain literally. That was one scarey ride for me and I was glad to get home! We made it home by 8pm in one piece! Then it started hailing! By the time we went to bed it was snowing and getting colder. It only made it up to 29 degree's today but at least the sun is out and I imagine the snow will melt off tomorrow. Poor horse is slipping and sliding up and down the steep hill in his pasture. Hope he doesn't fall and break a leg.

The daffodils in our yard are in bloom and the tree's already started getting buds on them this cold and snow couldn't be good for them. Well spring will get here soon enough.
